We offer high-quality, learning-rich preschool experiences for children birth to age five through Early Head Start and Head Start in our center-based classrooms. Children attend our programs five days per week in full-day sessions designed to support school readiness and whole-child development.
We provide transportation to select Head Start locations when available. All services are offered at no cost to eligible families.
Our classrooms create nurturing, engaging environments where children learn, grow, and build the skills needed for long-term success in school and in life.
What Does Our Teaching Staff Do?
Our teaching staff partners with families to support each child’s learning, growth, and development both in the classroom and and home. They:
- Share learning materials, activities, and ideas families can use at home
- Demonstrate simple ways to turn everyday moments and household items into learning opportunities
- Provide home learning kits with individualized activities designed for your child
- Plan engaging, hands-on classroom experiences that support school readiness and social-emotional growth
- Connect families with community resources, including nutrition, mental health, family support, and special education services
- Monitor and share each child’s developmental progress and learning milestones with families
- Provide healthy meals and nutritious snacks each day
- Meet with families throughout the year to discuss their child’s progress, celebrate growth, and share ideas to support learning at home
Together, our staff and families build strong foundations for lifelong learning and success.
What Does a Parent Volunteer Do?
Parent volunteers play an important role in supporting children’s learning and helping create a strong classroom community. Parent volunteers may:
- Volunteer in the classroom at least once a month
- Participate alongside their child and engage with other children during classroom activities
- Assist staff in planning and supporting learning experiences for children
- Help during meals and snack times
- Attend parent meetings and participate in family engagement opportunities
Parent involvement helps strengthen the connection between home and school while creating meaningful experiences for children and families.
Why Are Parents Important to the Center-Based Program?
Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher. When families are actively involved in the classroom and school community, children benefit in many meaningful ways.
When parents participate in the program, children benefit from:
- More individual attention and support in the classroom
- Stronger connections between home and school
- Encouragement from caring adults during learning activities
- Enriched classroom experiences through family cultures, traditions, and talents
- Better communication between families and teaching staff
- Learning experiences that reflect each child’s strengths, interests, and needs
- Increased confidence, social skills, and school readiness
Parents know their child better than anyone else, and their involvement helps create the best possible learning experience for every child.
