Early Head Start (EHS)

Early Head Start supports the healthy development of infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and families by providing high-quality early learning experiences, family support services, and access to prenatal and postpartum care.

We offer Early Head Start services through both Center Based and Home Based program options in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties.

Our Early Head Start Program Includes:

  • High-quality early childhood education for children birth to age three
  • Support for pregnant women and expectant families
  • Family support services and connections to community resources
  • Social-emotional learning through Conscious Discipline
  • Research and evidence-based curriculum designed to support healthy development and school readiness

Center-Based Program Option

Our Early Head Start centers are located in:

  • Bangor
  • Benton Harbor
  • Cassopolis
  • Millburg
  • New Buffalo
  • Watervliet

All centers operate year-round and provide full-day services Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm.

Our classrooms are designed to help children smoothly transition into Head Start as part of our birth-to-give program model. We work closely with families to make this transition a positive and successful experience.

Home-Based Program Option

Our Home-Based option is available in all three counties and includes:

  • Weekly 90-minute home visits
  • Personalized activities designed to support your child’s development
  • Twice-monthly socialization experiences at a center location where children and families can practice classroom routines and build connections with others
