Cultural Awareness Committee

This committee was formed as a place for staff to learn and grow to combat systemic racism in the communities we serve. Membership to this committee is reserved for interested staff who have attended the ERACCE 2 ½ day training and is lead by Olivia Barney (EHS Teacher) Elizabeth Rodriguez (Dual Language Coordinator) and Hailey Weldy (EHS Teacher).  If you are interested in attending the ERACCE training and/or being a part of the committee, please reach out to Chanda Hillman, CEO/Executive Director for more information.

Community Needs Assessment Committee

This committee was formed to get the input from staff and community members of where our communities need TCHS services the most. They will review data gathered from community partners and families.  This committee is led by Chanda Hillman (CEO/Executive Director) and consists of TCHS Board/PC members, community partners and TCHs employees.  If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Chanda Hillman for more information.

Emergency Preparedness Committee

The Emergency Preparedness Committee was developed to offer input on the Emergency Preparedness Plan (EEP). The EEP is a comprehensive document that provides guidance to Flowers Early Learning staff if an emergency arises.  This committee meets annually to review, and update changed to the EEP.  The Health Services Director or a member of the Directors team will lead the committee which consists of employees, parents, and community members.  All who are interested in becoming a part of this committee can contact Cindy Thomas (Health Services Director)

ERSEA Committee

The ERSEA Committee, led by Stacey Knuth (RESEA Manager) is a bi-monthly meeting that discusses Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance, and is required by the Head Start Performance Standards. To join, you can send an email to Stacey Knuth requesting an invitation

Health Services Advisory Committee

The Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) is a committee that supports children’s healthy development. This committee is a requirement of the Head Start Program Performance Standards.  The committee is led by the Health Services Director and its members may include our local health departments, nurses, physicians, dentists, nutrition, mental health providers, program parents, and Head Start staff.  HSAC strengthens the program within the community and provides recommendations to meet the needs of the children we serve.  HSAC generally meets in the fall and the spring, however, as a member, the Health Services Director may seek guidance on specific issues that arise.  To become a member of the HSAC contact Cindy Thomas (Health Services Director) for more information.

Location Review Committee

This committee was formed to help discover locations where TCHS services are needed, potential center locations, build community relationships and provide a communication loop with staff, families, and the community. This committee is led by Chanda Hillman (COE/Executive Director) and has participants that include employees, board members, policy council members and community partners.  If you are interested in joining this group, please reach out to Chanda Hillman for more information.

Policy Review Committee

This committee was formed for a place where staff can come together to review all TCHS policies and procedures monthly to ensure TCHS remains compliant with laws/regulations and takes staff’s ideas into consideration for changes.  This committee is lead by Kevin Wordleman (Human Resources Director) and Marybeth Johnson (Human Resources manager).  The committee consists of management and non-management employees, Policy Council and Board Members are also welcomed to join.  If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Kevin Wordleman for more information.

Self-Assessment Committee

Head Start programs must conduct a Self-Assessment of our agency’s effectiveness and progress in meeting program goals and objectives and in implementing Federal Regulations. The Self-Assessment must measure the agency’s strengths and areas of growth, allowing for continuous improvement of the program to enhance impact for children, families, and communities.  This committee will meet at least once per year, beginning in February or March.

Succession Planning Committee

This committee was formed to develop a strategic plan for each leadership role within TCHS and what would be needed to replace a leadership role. Each department of TCHS will create a specific binder including crucial information, how-to manuals, and a breakdown of what is completed each month.  This committee is led by Chanda Hillman (CEO/Executive Director) with the committee comprising of TCHS Directors, managers, and support staff to each Director/Manager.  This committee is by invitation only.

Wellness Committee

The Wellness Committee is a group of individuals who are committed to invoking positive change and growth within the members of TCHS. Our goal is to promote wellness through various facets such as physical health, mental health, and lifestyle quality.  Membership to this committee is open to all staff members and is led by Koreena Hemker (Mental Health Consultant), Jayce Shaffer (Classroom Program Administrator), Amanda Vankosky (Conscious Discipline Coordinator).  If you are interested in becoming involved, please reach out to one of the leaders for more information.

Website Review Committee

The Website Review Committee is a group of individuals dedicated to the development and continuous improvement of our website.  Our goal is to keep the content of the website up to date and relevant for our communities, families, and staff.  We want our website to reflect our commitment to the children and families we serve.  If you are interested in joining this committee, please reach out to Allison Lowry (Operations Director).
